If you keep on questioning yourself if you are going to do it or not then you’ll not do it. Do it like how the drunkards do it.

So, in my life, there have been times I’ve been questioning the things ill do and the things I won’t do. I’ve missed so many opportunities just by refusing to do those activities. Most times we happen to overlook the cons and not consider the pros if we do the action. Lemme give you an example, in high school, I was given a challenge of talking to a certain girl. I know this sounds as if it is not a good example but hear me out. I was to just talk to her and get her number and report back to my elders. the elders were the candidates of that year. what I did was like the most stupid thing I’ve ever done in my life.

I gave out 100 shillings to them for them not to harass me or follow up on me and tell on the school about my actions. the actions being that I was to chicken to talk to a beautiful lady. now let’s review the past and see if I had talked to the lady what changes might have happened in my life. so for start, I could have gotten a new friend, which for me it’s a huge deal. second, I could have learned her home area and most probably we could be hanging out right now. another thing is that I could get a reputation in the school for being a fresher talking to a form four. that reputation could have ranked me in the cool kids association of the school.

those are some of the things that could have happened. lemme give another scenario that I took into action without thinking and the benefits that came with it. back then in high school, we had this crappy teacher “lemme say that most politely as possible”. he used to select a prefect once he says that the current one is not doing as it should be done. these things are like being in the top ten performers of the class, not reporting the wrongdoers, not being consistent with the attendances of classes and not being close to the teachers. so one day a friend of mine was called into his offices for some recommendation of a good prefect. Out of blues, he recommended me as a good leader not only a good prefect of the class. So the teacher called me into the office and said “Bryan, have a seat. I need to talk to you about our class. One of my geography students, James has said that you would make a good leader of the class. So, I want you to be the class prefect.” It took me but surprise and wanted to decline the offer since in the previous school I was a terrible leader. His room partner in the office decided to convince me that the benefits of the leadership. I decided to take the action of being a leader. Let me tell out of experience, the fruits are very sweet.

I escaped the snares of severe punishment just because I was a leader and the fault was under my responsibility. I could approach teachers and members of the staff without asking who I was and being called a nobody. I not saying that those who are not in leadership in any institution are a nobodies but if they take a leap of faith and stand up for yourselves and do what your instincts tell you then you’ll move from a normal person to a better person. Take this into consideration, imagine if you never talked to your wife the first time you met or asked a question during a corporate meeting or walked into the building you are working in to ask for a job. how could your life be right now? Would you be happy or just keep saying “I wish that I took the risk, I wish I talked to him/her”

If my scenarios did not kick you to do what you always wanted to do, look at the life of top wealthy people in life. a good and common example is Mark Zuckerberg the owner of Whatsapp Facebook and Instagram. He took a risk of starting a social media app that connects the people of the world from different cities and nations. if he never did it, well, to be honest, I don’t know if we could have know people personally very well.

But let me not be encouraging you to do bad cause if you do, it’s not on me but your fault. Their things I would encourage you to do without thinking like talk to a company for partnership or a job application. To apply for a visa for you don’t know when you will soon travel to your desired destination. Do invite a friend over to talk about something that’s bothering you and see if you will get a solution but do just say everything be careful with your words. be careful with whom you tell your issues with and let it be someone like your parent or trustworthy friend.

To sum up, my words is that there things in life, opportunities that knock once and once you refuse to open the door, it’s gone. You can not chase after it, all you can say is “I wish I took that opportunity”
