Ford Fathom: Price, Range and Release Date

Ford’s Fathom is a midsize electric pickup with a starting price of $28,350. That is roughly half the price of the F-150 Lightning. Here is what Ford has confirmed, what it has not, and when you can order one. We update this page as news arrives.

Price

Ford revealed the Fathom name and price in early August 2026. The US starting MSRP is $28,350 for the standard-range version, before a $1,595 destination fee, which puts the cheapest Fathom just under $30,000. In Canada the starting price is CA$38,690, which Electrek reports includes the CA$4,000 federal EV incentive. Prices for higher trims have not been announced.

Range and battery

Ford has not announced driving range or battery size. Some outlets expect at least 300 miles, but that is speculation, not a Ford claim. What Ford has said is that the Fathom uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, which cost less and help preserve interior space. Treat any range figure you see before Ford publishes official numbers with caution.

Charging and tech

  • Native NACS charging port. A prototype has been seen at a Tesla Supercharger.
  • Bidirectional charging is standard, including vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-load.
  • Large touchscreen, digital key, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard.
  • BlueCruise-capable, and the first Ford with Apple Maps built in.

Charging speeds and times have not been announced.

Size and platform

Ford calls the Fathom a midsize pickup, although Electrek notes the prototypes look closer in size to the compact Maverick. It is the first vehicle on Ford’s new Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform. Ford says it offers more passenger space than a Toyota RAV4, not counting the front trunk or the bed. According to Electrek’s October 14 report, the first trucks will be built at Ford’s Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky. Exact dimensions, motor count and power have not been announced.

Release date

A prototype was first shown in June 2026, but the full production truck has not been revealed. When asked whether it would appear in 2026 or 2027, a Ford spokesperson said to keep an eye out for early next year. US and Canada pre-orders open in early 2027, and first customer deliveries are expected by the end of 2027.

Will it come to Kenya?

Ford has only announced the US and Canada. There is no word on East Africa, so for now the Fathom is a North American story.
